Floral Design Workshop

- A five-day, hands-on training program in the basics of floral
design
- Targeted to professionals and amateurs with educational needs
in entry-level floral design
- The ninth year for this workshop
- Taught by Dr. Jim DelPrince, AIFD, PFCI and Lynette McDougald,
MSU Floristry Faculty
- This year’s special guest teacher, Will Hunt Lewis of
Stems Floral Design, Greenville, MS
July 21-25 from 8:00 AM to approximately 5:00 PM daily with one-hour
lunch breaks. Held in the Floral Design Studio, adjacent
to the University Florist in the Mini Mall, Lee Blvd., MSU Campus,
Starkville.
Course Topics:
Conditioning cut plant material; using flower foods and anti-transpirants,
proper care, handling, storage,
and packaging of conditioned plant materials;
Designing flowers-to-wear, Creating flowers-to-carry designs; Arranging
flowers in vases;
sympathy designs including sprays and arrangements;
Designing centerpiece, buffet arrangements and flowers for entertaining.
Cost: $450 if registration received by July 1, 2008; $550
thereafter. Registration closes July 7. Fee includes
all plant materials and florist supplies. Bring your tools
including knife, wire cutters, and scissors.
Hotel accommodations are available in Starkville as well as on-campus
in the Herbert Hall Conference Dormitory or MSU’s Butler-Williams
Guest House.
Cancellation Policy: If notice given on or before July 1, 2008,
100% of fees will be refunded; until July 7, 50% of fees will be
refunded. No refunds will be given on or after July 14, 2008. Class
size is limited for better learning. Registration payment
will secure a seat in the class. Registration may close early
due to reaching capacity.
